Jakrawal NILTHAMRONG, (1977, Thailand) holds a MFA in art and technology studies from School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He has exhibited art works in both gallery and film festivals contexts since 2002. His early video “Dripping” (2004) won a price from the 10th Thai Short Film and Video Festival in Bangkok and his thesis film "Patterns of Transcendence" (2006), an experimental narrative about reincarnation of a Hindu God, has been showed in many international venues including IFFR 2007. Later that year Jakrawal was an artist in residence at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. He also was invited to create “Black Air”, interactive video and sound installation, for IFFR 2008 together with 4 Thai artists and filmmakers.
Jakrawal’s short films have been screened in various venues including, Clermont-Ferrand (France), Oberhausen (Germany), 25 FPS (Croatia), Amsterdam Short (Netherlands), Tampere (Finland), as well as art exhibition in Dublin (Ireland), Video Art Biennial (Israel), Sydney (Australia) and many others. Recently in early 2009, he was invited to create video installation in Akiyoshidai International Art Village (Japan). His 2 latest short films were screened at IFFR 2009 including “Orchestra” and “Man and Gravity” (in competition Tiger Shorts). Furthermore Jakrawal is working on an ambitious projects “Vanishing Point”, his first feature film produced by Pimpaka Towira.
